Sisterhood is our superpower

Two women holding and reading a book titled 'The Bonobo Sisterhood: Revolution Through Female Alliance' by Diane L. Rosenfeld.

The Bonobo Sisterhood Alliance is a global movement rooted in the radical idea that we can end gender-based violence—together. Inspired by the female bonobo primates’ model of collective protection, we empower individuals and communities to interrupt harm in real time, build safer spaces through sisterhood, solidarity, and action.

Bonobo Sisterhood January Community Conversation

January 11 at 5pm EST – Join Diane Rosenfeld, author of The Bonobo Sisterhood, and Lauren R. Taylor, co-author of Get Empowered, for a conversation about what it means to know you have a Self Worth Defending and how to build boundaries that reflect that truth.

Lauren has spent more than four decades working to end gender-based violence. She co-founded Washington D.C.’s first shelter for abused women and their children and is the founder-director of Defend Yourself, which has trained more than 35,000 people in empowerment self-defense. She also co-founded Safe Bars, created the National Street Harassment Hotline, and has been widely featured in national media for her work. Her teaching centers women, survivors, disabled people, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

This session is an opportunity to learn from two leaders who have devoted their work to safety, self-worth, and collective support.
